St Mary's Ahoghill v St Teresa's Belfast

Antrim ACFL Division 1B

Fr McGuigan Park, Ahoghill

A most unsaintly dogfight awaits at Fr McGuigan Park tomorrow afternoon as Mary meets Teresa in a full-blooded Antrim ACFL Division 1 relegation battle.

After two wins in three, the Ahoghill side have rekindled the survival hopes that looked to be distant as the South West side struggled for form at the beginning of the season. A shock defeat of St John's and a hard-fought victory over Aghagallon however have the Cloney side dreaming of yet another dramatic escape.

St Teresa's have two wins to their name, one of which came over tomorrow's hosts and the other an impressive away victory over St Brigid's. The Glen Road men suffered a heavy defeat in midweek at the hands of local rivals Gort na Móna, who are bidding to stay in Division 1 after their promotion last season.

The Belfast side have been somewhat unlucky in some games, particularly their recent battle with title-chasers St Gall's, where the goals were the difference despite excellent form from Conor and John Mallon.

Ahoghill's midweek win was a typical team effort with a fine spread of scorers, but James O'Connell and Owen Neeson caught the eye with a 1-04 haul between them. Their scoring prowess will be vital in this relegation shootout.

While a home win tomorrow would not condemn the visitors to relegation, it could be enough to lift St Mary's out of danger if Naomh Éanna fail to secure the two points against Gort na Móna.

Antrim Gaels will be wondering if Boris, Shamu and Baldy can once again do their best Tom, DIck and Harry impression and deliver the Great Escape.
