O'Neill's Derry SFC Quarter Final Replay
Robert Emmet's Slaughtneil v Eoghan Rua
Dan Mullan (John Mitchell's Glenullin)
Quarter will be neither asked nor given in Owenbeg tomorrow night as two teams bedecked in white and maroon will look to leave each other behind in this Derry SFC Quarter Final Replay.
It was left to the experienced Richard Carey to salvage a draw in the drawn game, but it could have been a different story as Eoghan Rua raced into an early lead, forcing the Emmet's side to reel them back in and establish a lead once again.
With the sides going point-for-point in an absorbing clash, it was widely accepted as the game of the championship, that is until Lavey and the Loup got their teeth into each other last Thursday.
Both sides were in hurling action at the weekend, with the Eoghan Rua men finishing level with Na Magha to force a replay that is sure to be an irritant to both sides. The North Coast side, however, managed to come through the weekend relatively unscathed, with only Paul Daly a doubt for tomorrow's match with an ankle injury.
Slaughtneil claimed their sixth Senior Hurling Championship title at the weekend and were boosted by the return to action of Brendan Rogers and Gerald Bradley in their win over Banagher.
Eoghan Rua have looked the most likely to break the Slaughtneil stranglehold on the Derry SFC and will look to repeat the pressing that reaped rewards in the initial fixture in an effort to keep the dream of adding to their 2010 crown alive.
Robert Emmet's have the pedigree and experience to execute their game plan and usetheir wealth of championship nous to get a result without resorting to panic. Expect two strong teams to be close to each other for the majority of another close, absorbing encounter in front of a packed Owenbeg crowd.
